The project aims at organizing volunteer historical research camps to work on restoring abandoned cemeteries. The first two camps took place in summer 2010 and 2011. Volunteers were restoring an old cemetery in Korelychi village, Peremyshl’ district, Lviv region. Project is set up in order to attract attention of local communities to the problem of abandoned cemeteries and historical monuments.
Within the project there are plans to clean the territory from the litter, to put crosses back up, to compile a description of the cemetery, to verify all the data with archive documents.During the camp volunteers interview people who live in the village, collect documents, artifacts, and oral testimonies. We encourage to participation in the project village communities and especially young people.
