Stepan Bandera, the future leader of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army, was born on January 1, 1909, in the village of Staryi Ugryniv, Kalush province, in the family of a Greek-Catholic priest. 90 years ago, on November 22, near the town of Bazar (Zhytomyr region) 359 Ukrainian soldiers, participants of the Second Winter Campaign, were shot. The Second Winter Campaign of foreign subdivisions of the Ukrainian People’s Republic Army (October-November 1921) was a try to organize an uprising against the Bolshevik occupational regime in the whole territory of Ukraine. Cossacks and officers of the Ukrainian People’s Republic Army and the Ukrainian Galician Army participated in the campaign under the command of the general H.Tyutyunnyk.
